This is me on my visit to California in September 2007 I'm born 2nd April 1981, at exactly 3pm in the afternoon in Herning Hospital.

I grow up in a small town called Gjellerup, kirkeby, about 3 km to the east of Herning. My mother (Linda Jensen) was a pedagogue at Hammerum daycare center and my father (Ove Appelon Jensen) was a carpenter.

In 1986 my happy times as an only child ended and I became a big brother to a sister and a brother (Camilla Appelon Jensen and Casper Appelon Jensen), if any doubted they are twins. I went to Gjellerup Elementary school, from 1985 - 1995.

A week after I finished elementary school, I began as an apprentice, with Hammerum El, a small electric company in the neighbor town to Gjellerup, kirkeby. There I was for 2 years, until I realized I was going in the wrong direction, not that I didn't like electricity, but because my mental arithmetic sucked. Lucky for me the owner of Hammerum el was of the same understanding, and we broke even on my contract. After my early ending as an electrician, I had to give it some serious forgets before I jumped at another education, now the reason why I began as an electrician in the first place was, because I had 2 weeks in training while I still was in the elementary school, and strange as it was I ended up with there data electrician, witch task mostly was based on network, and other computer related stuff, and stupid as a 15 years old trainee can be I forth that was the electricians job. Not that it took me 2 years to figure it out it wasn't, but I was willing to give it a try.

The funny thing with me is that I have been working with computer all my life. My first computer was a Commodore 64, and I bought it when I was 10 years old, for DKK 800,-. Ever sense, have I been working and improving my computer skills.

In 1998 I began on the 40 weeks low voltages base education, and with the knowledges I got from my high voltages school I succeeded. The next step was to find a new apprenticeship, and sadly that wasn't the easiest thing to do around 1998, because of the intense interest, there was for the profession at this given time. Just as everything was on the brink of collapse, and I was starting to look in other directions I got a call from Gert Kaspersen (Kasper) from WM-data BFC, that he would like me to start my apprenticeship with them. I came as a absolute surprise that I finally had a contract, and could move on with my education. Also I had no idea what I would be doing in my new job, somehow I thought that I was going to make PC's the entire day. Lucky for me I was landed right in the heart of WM-data BFC's internal IT department as the first apprentice. I realized that I was more then a simple assembly line work, on the first day when they gave me an office with a laptop and my own cellphone.

The year 1998 was also the year I started to date Gitte Marie Nielsen, I had known Gitte for the most of my life because she was daughter of my dads old school friend, and we had been playing as kids.

In the beginning of January 1998 just after new-year, me and my family went to visit Ole and Gitte in Thisted, there was recovering from the lost of Gittes mother, Marie (Rie) there died from cancer the past year...

At this given time Gitte was 17 and I was 18 years old. Gitte and I dated a couple of times, and the 24 of April 1998, Gitte and her dad came to visit me and my family in Gjellerup, kirkeby, and before they went home Gitte and I was in a relationship.

A year went by, and new-year came. Gitte there is borne on the 31 December 1981 was turning 18 with the millennium, and we decided to get engaged, as evidence of our relationship.

In May 2000 Gitte and I moved together in Ikast. Ikast is located 10 km to the east of Herning. We lived in Ikast from 2000 - 2005

Doing the last couple of years of my Education I started to focus on Open Source, and bought the domain name Appelon.net. I made my first homepage, and mail-server, all running on Red Hat Linux. I started to sell e-mail accounts to family, there also had the middle name Appelon. This way I had a very good reason to keep my learning of Open Source up to speed, and with WM-data as a sponsor of old computer equipment I got the hardware I need.

In 2001 I finished my apprenticeship with WM-data, but kept working with them.

In 2005 I had talked Kasper in to lading me take a certification in Red Hat Linux, but in 2005 there was no certification to obtain in Denmark, so along side with the struggling to get certified I had to make WM-data pay for my trip to a given country. Finally I found that most certification courses was hold in English, and I didn't need to travel to the states to get it, so I ended up in Holland where I was for a week and on the 16 of December 2005 I became a Red Hat Certified Technician. Actually I was going for the RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) but failed to obtain it with 2%, please remember I had no courses what so ever only Michael Jang's book to go on. So to say it my self I think I did a good job...

Medio 2005: With the move from physical to virtual servers WM-data consolidated the server parks in to 2 server rooms, one In Aarhus and one in Ballerup, lucky for me Gitte was finishing her education in Aarhus, and was travailing between Ikast and Aarhus every day, so we was already looking for a new apartment in Aarhus. With some help from a friend we found this old and closed dairy from the 1890's there served as apartments now a days, in a small town about 20 km of to the northwest of Aarhus called Vorre. The day I went to Kasper and asked for a transfer to the Aarhus office he had planed asking me if I would consider a transfer to...

With the finance situation looking its best ever, considering to full incomes and a rental apartment as the only monthly expense, We wanted to travel and enjoy ourself while we had the time and money, we booked a 3 week trip to China, where we should travel around for 2 weeks, beginning in Beijing and ending with 1 week in Tibet. Tibet also became the place I proposed to Gitte, on the golden roof in the middle of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, and she said yes!...

The following new-year we traveled to London a week before the new-year celebration, we was planing to attend along side with 500.000 other people on the banks of The Themsen, in front of the London Eye. it was a fables week and night.

Medio 2007 we was looking for a bigger place to live, we could call our own, and do to the housing markets pricing was higher then ever, we simply had to drop the idea of a house in the center of Aarhus city, and went for a housing co-operative solution, to get closer to Aarhus. We found a rather new house from year 2003, 15 km south of Aarhus in a town called Hasselager. We bought the share, and was do to take it over in medio July. This was a busy time for us, because we was to get miraged the 18 of August 2007.

As of this writing I'm still working for the same company, now just called Logica Danmark. WM-data was bought up by the English company called LogicaCMG, there later became Logica. Looking forward to my 10 years anniversary for being employed by Logica. on the 20th of September 2009.

I'm now preparing to give the RHCE certification a try again and hopefully this time, I will pass with a scorer above 80%  so I can move on to become a RHCX (Red Hat Certified eXaminer) and start to teach Red Hat Linux.
